I wanna take you away from reality for just a few moments where there is nothing to define you.” Monique, a Miami-born songstress, dancer, and actress is not one designed to fit in the proverbial box. In fact, she redefines boundaries, rules, and containing beliefs consistently. From her ability to meld into the multi-cultural scene in South Florida like a chameleon, to her fearless approach to life and music, Monique says she is “going through the journey and enjoying being present in the moment. Raised in South Florida’s Cutler Ridge community, Monique was destined to shine. That shine magnified when she was cast as the young, beautiful leading lady in Austin Mahone’s video, “MMM Yeah,” featuring Pitbull and directed by Gil Green. The video garnered over 87 million views on YouTube. Her sizzling appearance in the video has created a buzz among Mahone’s fans asking, “Who is that girl?” Sizzling is a normal state of being for this vocalist with so much energy she’s called a little bottle of Red Bull. Her spiritual connection to every word and every note she sings comes front and center when she takes the stage. Monique recalls her vocal artistry began at the age of nine, when she informed her mom that she had scheduled an appointment with a vocal coach and she needed to be sure to get her there on time It was that training at the Jackie Arredondo Conservatory that strengthened her voice. Acting in high school and local theatre and later in commercials and a regional TV show provided Monique with multiple platforms of creative expression; but it was music that ultimately grabbed her heart. Monique is currently working on a project that she says is just as eclectic and eccentric as she is. The project features high-energy dance numbers that will “make you move every inch of your body”; but also unveils her perspectives on being a woman who knows what she wants. Monique has written or co-written every song on the untitled project; a bold move allowing fans to feel who she is and to know that she intimately understands and goes through everything in life that they do. She also loves engaging every available ear with deep, philosophical conversations, and empowering young women to become everything, they can envision This “unapologetically Latina” songbird is devouring the music industry, as she does life – full of passion and giving it her all.
